As is discussed in Battlefield Taiwan, China has planned on invading Taiwan for years and likely intends on doing so sometime soon. Unfortunately, that “soon,” might be much sooner than we originally thought. According to Radio Free Asia, Xi has told the Chinese military to get ready for combat. Here’s what RFA reported:
“Ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Xi Jinping has told the country’s military and armed police force to get ‘combat ready’ to defend national sovereignty and security, amid fears that Beijing may be planning an invasion of democratic Taiwan in the next few years.
“The entire army needs to strengthen its performance so as to do a good job of ensuring a good start to the 14th Five-Year Plan, and of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the party,” Xi told People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and People’s Armed Police (PAP) leaders, according to a Mar. 10 report in the official CCP newspaper, the People’s Daily.”
Also according to Radio Free Asia, Xi plans on “speeding up a resolution” of the “Taiwan issue” sometime soon:
“Wu Qiang, a former politics lecturer at Beijing’s Tsinghua University, said Xi is likely planning to make a definite move to annex, or, in the CCP’s terminology, “unify with,” the democratic island of Taiwan in the next five years.
“Beijing is looking at speeding up a resolution of the Taiwan issue during Xi’s third term as president,” Wu said. “This means that, over the next few years, the Taiwan issue will become the most important story in the Western Pacific.”
Of course, all of this could have been easily avoided. All we had to do was have a non-woke military that would actually prepare to defend us and our allies against the predations of the Red Chinese. All we needed was for Biden to be semi-competent and marginally strong rather than a hack that bends over backwards for the Reds. All we needed was a political class that would stand up to China rather than be bought off, like Sen. Ossoff, or bow down to Chinese propaganda, like this Alabama state senator.
But, apparently, that was too much to ask. As Bill Maher said, we’re a silly people. So, the Chinese military is now readying itself to cross the strait and invade Taiwan, or that is at leas the impression given by Xi’s comments, and our military, rather than readying the island’s defenses, is designing a uniform for pregnant women. Had we been this weak and distracted during the Cold War, Red would blot the map from Vladivostok to Gibraltar. Unfortunately, it now looks like red will soon begin to spread across the map once again.
