Matthew McConnaughey, the famed actor who’s rivaled perhaps only by Christian Bale in terms of how far he’s willing to go to get into character and make a movie excellent, isn’t just a brilliant actor.
He’s also a man of strong faith, one of the few in Hollywood who’s willing to openly speak about and champion his faith despite the hostility of the leftist ideologues running that sick town. Speaking about that faith on Joe Rogan’s podcast, McConnaughey said:
“I have had moments where I was on stage receiving an award in front of my peers in Hollywood, and there were people in the crowd that I have prayed with before dinners many times, and when I thanked God, I saw some of those people go to clap, but then notice that, ‘bad thing on my resume’ and then sit back on their hands. Some people in [Hollywood] … go to the Left so far … to the illiberal Left side so far that it’s so condescending and patronizing to 50% of the world.”
Watch him talk about Joe Rogan with that here:
He also spoke about cancel culture and forgiveness, forgiveness certainly being a Christian value that’s been lost in years as the culture war has heated up and gone insane, saying:
“We’re making people persona non grata because of something they do that is right now deemed wrong or it’s the hot point in a hot topic right now. You can’t erase someone’s entire existence. Where the heck does some forgiveness go?”
He also thanked and glorified God in his 2014 Oscars speech, starting off by saying:
“First off, I want to thank God because that’s who I look up to. He’s graced my life with opportunities that I know are not of my hand or any other human hand”
In these times of seemingly everyone in the public square being to the far left of the political aisle and generally even farther away from God than from the political center, it’s nice to see and hear at least one celebrity proudly champion his faith and give such rousing statements about God and faith.
