Why do Democrats hate the rich? They are constantly on attack against income inequality, wealth inequality, and, recently, the existence of billionaires. For some reason, they act as if we’re stuck in a postmodern version of the Gilded Age that’s far, far worse than the original Gilded Age ever was. That should be perplexing to all Americans. Capitalism and the system of wealth inequality that it creates is what allows our nation to flourish and has so far lifted millions out of poverty. So, why do Democrats hate the rich?

It’s a question that I can’t substantively answer. Perhaps envy lies at the root of it. Or, maybe, they are so focused on equality that they’ve forgotten that it’s not a bad thing for some people to be so much more successful than others.
In any case, others are starting to take note that Democrats hate the rich for no real reason. A recent article on The Hill, entitled “Why do Democrats kick around America’s rich,” written by Bernard Goldberg, provides a far better answer to the question than I ever could. In his article, Goldberg discusses the types of attacks Democrats are making on the rich and why those attacks are so illogical.
Summary of Goldberg’s article on “Why Do Democrats Hate the Rich?”
First, Goldberg discusses the dichotomy between liberal views of wealth and conservative views of wealth:
Bernie wants a revolution — his words, not mine. Here’s what he said in 2015, the last time he ran for president: “What my campaign is about is a political revolution — millions of people standing up and saying, ‘Enough is enough.’ Our government belongs to all of us, and not just the handful of billionaires.”
This time around, he’s a lot more pithy. “I don’t think billionaires should exist,” he said in an interview. “I hope the day comes when they don’t.”
“Americans have always been in love with the idea of success,” Peggy Noonan has written in her Wall Street Journal column. “It’s rewarded the creation of wealth, made household saints of the richest men in the world. We were proud they lived here.”From: Why do Democrats Hate the Rich?
Goldberg then discusses how two of the farthest left candidates, Bernie the Communist and Elizabeth Warren, feel about America’s wealthiest citizens:
At his rallies, Sanders can’t spit out the word “billionaires” without his face turning red and his blood pressure rising. He makes rich people sound like bank robbers, or worse.
And Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), who claims she’s a “capitalist to my bones,” has a funny way of showing that. She wants the super-rich to pay not only an income tax but a wealth tax as well — because even if she doesn’t especially like them, she needs their money to finance an even bigger federal government with even more social welfare programs that would add up to trillions of dollars and, if her critics are right, would crash the American economy. From: Why do Democrats Hate the Rich?
Next, Goldberg discusses all the great things wealthy people have done for America and how they’re the ones that have to fund the lion’s share of federal expenditures:
Maybe the richest Americans don’t need a tax break, but they sure don’t need to be pilloried and denigrated either. You know what they do need? Our gratitude, that’s what.
According to the Tax Foundation’s latest numbers, the top 1 percent of taxpayers kicks in about 37 percent of all individual income taxes. The top 5 percent pays 58 percent; the top 10 percent pays just under 70 percent of all federal income taxes.
Oh, yeah — the bottom 50 percent pays a measly 3 percent of all federal income taxes.
And we’re vilifying rich people?
These “fat cats” are the ones who do the heavy lifting in this country. They’re the ones whose federal tax dollars pick up a big chunk of the tab for all sorts of noble things, such as food for folks who don’t have enough to eat … medicine and doctors for people with little money … financial aid to help other people’s kids go to college … milk and diapers for poor babies whose 15-year-old mothers and deadbeat fathers are too irresponsible to take care of their own kids … a safety net for old folks who are retired on fixed incomes … and on and on.From: Why do Democrats Hate the Rich?
Finally, Goldberg makes the excellent point that Americans should feel grateful to the wealthy, not hatred:
It is time — no, make that long past time — to pay tribute to those this nation of ours owes a great debt, to those who give and give and give and, in return, get anything but our gratitude.
Right there, amongst the sacred national structures that honor great Americans, we need to build a shiny monument to … The Rich — otherwise known in progressive circles as the filthy, no good, greedy, heartless rich.
The statue could be simple and elegant: a smiling rich guy in a business suit holding hundred-dollar bills in one hand and a cigar in the other, both hands extended toward the blue sky. From: Why do Democrats Hate the Rich?
Analysis of “Why Do Democrats Hate the Rich?”
It’s absolutely absurd to me that so many Democrats hate the rich. Although they’re wrong, it at least makes sense that communists like Bernie Sanders and socialist imbeciles like AOC hate the rich, that’s part of their ideology. But, they and their supporters only make up about ~20% of the Democratic party. So why do the rest of the Democrats hate the rich?
I think envy of success is to blame. Republicans have been the party of entrepreneurs, businessmen, and other hard workers for a while now. So, most in America who are the types that would pull themselves up by their own bootstraps side with the Republicans and seek to emulate the wealthy rather than denigrate them.
Democrats, on the other hand, are the party of illegal immigrants and welfare recipients. Those lazy degenerates are full of envy that someone has so much, and are able to just blot out that the reason for that is that the wealthy worked very hard to get where they are.
Because of capitalism, America is one of the freest and most prosperous nations ever. But envy threatens to rip that all away, and it is getting closer to doing so because Americans won’t stand up for billionaires.
That makes no sense. The top 1% pay most of the taxes, support most of the charities, and create most of the wealth in America. Goldberg was right, we should build a statue for them.
So, why do Democrats hate the rich? Envy. Shame. Emotion. Whatever the cause, that hatred is a powerful and dangerous force. We need to rid our nation of it and try to create more billionaires rather than tear down the existing ones.
