Watch: Brandon and Jill Forced to Stand in Cold after Being Locked Out of White House [Hilarious Flashback]

Back before he was Brandon, back when a few people still (bizarrely) had hope that Biden’s head was screwed on straight and that he wouldn’t take a hammer to all the good things Trump had done, Biden was already looking like a fool.

What happened? Well, the chief usher under Trump had been fired hours before, so when Biden made it to the White House door, he was actually locked out. As the Daily Mail reported at the time:

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill were momentarily left standing in the cold on Inauguration Day after the front doors of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue weren’t opened for them – a breach of protocol caused by the firing of the chief usher of the White House hours earlier.

With the world watching on, the 46th US President and his wife walked up the steps of their new home for the first time on Wednesday, as a small crowd of family members followed behind.

The couple posed for photos outside the large wooden doors of the North Portico, waiving to the crowd as a military band played ‘Hail to the Chief’ nearby.

They then embraced one another, before turning to venture on inside. But there was a problem: the doors didn’t open.

Well, that’s no good: El Presidente needed to make it inside the president’s mansion, but obviously had no idea he was being locked out.

So, what happened next was hilarious, and maybe even awkward enough to make you feel a tiny bit bad for Brandon. Again according to the Daily Mail:

For an awkward but fleeting period of around 10 seconds, Biden stares puzzlingly at the door before turning back to shoot a confused look at his approaching family members.

Eventually the doors swing open, though it’s unclear whether Jill and Joe were forced to open them themselves, or whether someone on the inside finally notice the mistake.

Oof. That’s very, very cringeworthy.  Watch the incident here:

So what’s the background? Well, while the Marines are responsible for guarding the entrance to the White House, it’s the chief usher who’s responsible for opening the doors.

Apparently, the chief usher at the White House was fired at the request of the Biden’s mere hours before the incident.

One official, speaking on the issue, said “The head usher enjoyed the confidence of the Trump family throughout his tenure. Any suggestion that his resignation was at the direction of anyone other than the Biden team is false.

So, Team Biden called up the White House and fired the chief usher, Timothy Harleth, right before the inauguration. Then, for whatever reason, no one was sent to open the door, so when Biden got there and wanted to get in he was locked out…karma’s a B**ch!

Now, when you see Biden mess up abroad, when you see the fool bumbling about making mistake after mistake, just remember the incompetent note his administration began on: thanks to a shortsighted firing, they didn’t even have someone ready to open the door.
