In a leaked briefing, a top Australian General, Major-General Findlay, can be heard saying that war with China is highly likely. Here is what he said in the leaked tape from a speech that ZeroHedge claims was given to elite Australian military personnel:
Findlay: “Who do you reckon the main (regional) threat is? [It’s] China. OK, so if China is a threat, how many special forces brigades in China? You should know there are 26,000 Chinese SOF (Special Operations Forces) personnel.”
The Sydney Morning Herald, one of the main papers reporting on the speech, also included this content from the meeting:
“They say General Findlay told his troops that, if the threat of conflict was realised, the ADF needed to rely not only on traditional air, land and sea capabilities but also on Australia’s ability to use cyber and space warfare.
He also highlighted the need for the ADF to reassert its presence and play “first grade” in south-east Asia and the south-west Pacific, describing how the military had uncovered information showing China was seeking to exploit “our [Australia’s] absence” in the region.
“We need to make sure we don’t lose momentum… get back in the region,” General Findlay said, highlighting Australia’s close ties to Indonesia.
According to the same source, General Findlay also said:
“Western democracies have peace, and then, when they cross a line, we get really angry. Then we start bombing people. China said, let’s be smarter. Let’s just play below the threshold, before it goes to war”
General Findlay might be attacked in the press for this, eternally hopeful peaceniks claiming he’s pushing the West and China toward war, but he’s undeniably right. China has been building islands in the South China Sea for years. It’s flying near-daily missions toward Taiwan’s airspace. It steals our technology, upgrades its own, and frequently launches bellicose, vitriolic verbal attacks on the West. We should be preparing for a war with Red China.
Unfortunately, we’re not. Slow Joe is a Chinese puppet that is forcing our troops to focus on sex changes and flight suits for pregnant women rather than winning wars. Even were the military to start preparing, the war would likely go poorly at first, as is described in the Battlefield Ukraine series. America and its allies aren’t ready for a war with China, but, as General Findlay points out, China is certainly preparing for one with us and is exploiting our vulnerabilities.
We should do the same. As the Sydney Morning Herald reports, “General Findlay said that to “stop war from breaking out” Australia’s military must compete against the “coercive constraints” imposed on Australia by China. In undertaking its own grey zone missions, Australia’s aim was to “put the adversary at a disadvantage, put us at an advantage” and avoid war.”
He’s right. We need to use similar grey zone tactics to compete with China without sparking a full scale war, at least not before we’re ready. War with China is likely. It’s time to start acting like it.
