My Thoughts on the Meaning of the 4th of July:
As this meme suggests, many Americans will not remember the meaning of the 4th of July and the circumstances that surrounded it. Yes, we all celebrate the American Revolution. We celebrate the famous liberty or death quote by Patrick Henry (which I analyze here: Patrick Henry quote about liberty). Similarly, we celebrate the Founding Fathers and the ideals that they treasured, such as liberty. But, we don’t really seem to understand those values.
Orwell has been proven, in large part, right about tyranny. That’s mainly because Americans don’t understand the meaning of the 4th of July! Show you agree by ordering one of these awesome products I designed here: https://teespring.com/orwell-was-right-about-tyranny
Now, people cheer gun control measures and push for more of them. They ask you for reasons why you should be allowed to own a firearm because they don’t understand the meaning of the 4th of July or that the right to keep and bear arms is a natural right granted by God and enshrined in the Constitution, not some petty thing that was only temporarily granted by the government.
Many Americans have forgotten George Washington’s timeless wisdom that any government that seeks to confiscate guns has unjust and tyrannical plans, otherwise it wouldn’t try to confiscate your weapons. Just as that was true of the British then, it is true of our government today. As I implored my readers in my “Don’t Surrender your Weapons,” I will implore you now; never surrender your right to keep and bear arms. Any government that wants you to do so is not worth your time and does not deserve your trust.
The meaning of the 4th of July is that we now have “the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” But we only have those rights because brave patriots were unwilling to surrender their weapons and knew that they had no moral responsibility to do so.
Actually, they had the moral responsibility to not turn in their weapons and instead fight the British for them. That’s why the Battles of Lexington and Concord were fought; patriots were defending their supplies of arms so that they could resist tyranny. Now, in the modern-day, Americans should look at the meaning of the 4th of July to see their justification for fighting taxes and defending 2nd Amendment sanctuaries.
The meaning of the 4th of July is that Americans are free. We have the right to do what we want without fear of ridiculous government interference. Although we have allowed those things to happen so far, we have no reason to allow them to continue to happen. This 4th of July, take the time to understand your God-given freedom and then stand up and support it. The health of the republic requires it.
