According to CBC.ca, Winnipeg-based scientists exported stolen Ebola samples to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the same lab the Covid-19 almost certainly escaped from. Here’s what CBC reported:
“Scientists at the National Microbiology Lab sent live Ebola and Henipah viruses to Beijing on an Air Canada flight March 31, and while the Public Health Agency of Canada says all federal policies were followed, there are questions about whether that shipment is part of an ongoing RCMP investigation.
Ebola and Henipah are Level 4 pathogens, meaning they’re some of the deadliest viruses in the world. They must be contained in a lab with the highest level of biosafety control, such as the one in Winnipeg.
Two months after that shipment, on May 24, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) referred an “administrative matter” to RCMP that resulted in the removal of two Chinese research scientists — Xiangguo Qiu and Keding Cheng — and several international students on July 5…
…Several sources, who have asked to remain anonymous because they fear for their jobs, say the pathogens may have been shipped to the Chinese Academy of Sciences in a way that circumvented the lab’s operating procedures, and without a document protecting Canada’s intellectual property rights.”
CBC later confirmed the details of the case, noting what happened and who sent the stolen Ebola samples to the Wuhan Institute of Virology:
“Newly-released access-to-information documents reveal details about a shipment of deadly pathogens last year from Canada’s National Microbiology Lab to China — confirming for the first time who sent them, what exactly was shipped, and where it went…
…’We have a researcher who was removed by the RCMP from the highest security laboratory that Canada has for reasons that government is unwilling to disclose. The intelligence remains secret. But what we know is that before she was removed, she sent one of the deadliest viruses on Earth, and multiple varieties of it to maximize the genetic diversity and maximize what experimenters in China could do with it, to a laboratory in China that does dangerous gain of function experiments. And that has links to the Chinese military.'”
Meanwhile, instead of getting to the root of the problem and finding out what happened and why, Canada’s Liberal government has so far refused to hand over important documents and use them to hold China accountable.
This excellent report delves into the fight between Canadian liberals and conservatives over what should happen now, as Great Game India reports well in these tweets and embedded articles:
The Western world can not continue to insouciantly sit by as the Red Chinese continue to steal intellectual property, especially property of military value.
Covid was barely more harmful than the common flu yet it devastated the world’s finances and killed millions. Weaponized Ebola would be even worse. Why did Canada allow Chinese scientists to work on such a deadly disease, and how was a sample able to be stolen?
Our neighbors to the north have some questions to answer about their relationship with Red China…this should not have been able to happen.
