Things did not got well when the Jabba the Hut of the documentary industry, Micahel Moore, decided to try and go on a radical rant about Republicans when he appeared on Bill Maher’s program.
In fact, Moore was bizarrely claiming that the November midterms are going to go great for Democrats, at which point Maher had to pump the brakes and shut him down, saying “shut the f*** up!” at one point.
Watch them here, if you can tolerate listening to Michael Moore for even half a moment:
As you can hear in the video, things started off relatively well, with Maher giving a nice introduction of Moore and noting that it has been twenty year’s since Moore’s “Bowling for Columbine” documentary came out. He also called him “Michael Less,” a reference to Moore having lost some weight (less might still be an overstatement.)
But then, like family dinners across America for the past five or six years, things quickly turned to contentious politics and went downhill from there.
It started with Maher, who noted that people are more interested in and excited about midterms than normal, saying:
“So, ah, listen, we’ve talked about the midterms many times here. I think there’s sort of a bright spot there in the fact that the country is on the brink. Which, for the first time I can remember, the midterms are sexy. This is the one usually we had trouble getting people to go out and vote for. Now there’s very high enthusiasm for a midterm election.”
Well, Moore must have taken that a signal to start rambling about his political opinions and to give delusional takes on the November midterms, as that is exactly what he did, saying:
“I honestly believe Bill, and you know, you and I are two well-known pessimists, I think, and I have never felt this optimistic. And I, and, you know, I was on your show here, what’s, now six years ago when I said that Trump was going to win. And the audience booed me and you stood up for me.
“You know, I’m from the Midwest. I think I had a pretty good sense of what was going to happen. I think the opposite is going to happen this time. I think that that there is going to be such a landslide against the traitors, especially the 147 Republicans who just hours after the insurrection voted to not certify the elected President of the United States, Joe Biden.
“And I think that there is going to be so many people coming out to vote. I want to thank the Supreme Court for reminding women that they are, in fact, second-class citizens and taking their rights away like this. There are so many.
“I think there’s a real revolution, a nonviolent revolution going on in favor of democracy. People don’t want to lose it.”
As you can see in the video, Maher was, by that time, not all that interested in continuing to listen to Moore ramble on. But ramble on Moore did, with the two going back and forth and More apologizing before continuing to ramble and rub his hands with glee at the thought of a purge, saying:
“I’m just excited. We’re going to get rid of these people that are trying to tear the country down. We’re going to get rid of them. I’m excited about it.”
Maher then tried yet again to move on and reminded Moore that some Republicans watch his show, but Moore wouldn’t move on, so Maher snapped at him, saying:
“Yeah, I know, I know. Shut the f*** up! Shut up right now and answer one other question. Okay?”
LOL. Good stuff.
