The Culture War Heats Up: Time to Raise the Black Flag?
The culture war has been going on for a long time, but it seems to have heated up recently. With Biden’s decisions to let in thousands of illegal immigrants and start pushing for incredibly restrictive gun control, the House passing the disgusting Equality Act, leftist and woke corporations like Coca-Cola forcing their employees to sit through far-left “anti-racism” seminars, and the general attacks on traditional American values, not to mention an MSNBC host saying Trump supporters should be attacked with drones or AOC asking for lists to be made of Trump supporters, the culture war has gone in a far darker and more radical direction.
No longer are we just bickering over gay marriage and tax rates, now we conservatives are fighting for our right to exist. That poses an important question for conservatives. Is it time to raise the black flag in the culture war fight? Should we free ourselves from any restraints and start waging the culture war as the left fights it?
Here’s what one person on Twitter had to say (I’ve boycotted Big Tech, but still occasionally see screenshots of tweets from time to time):
Ms. Panahi, or I suppose Mr. O’Neill, is spot on in this piece of analysis. The left is pushing for radical change. They want to radically transform America and demean us for the very act of standing up to them.
Yet we remain stuck in that cycle. They falsely call Trump a racist, call anyone to the right of Karl Marx a Nazi, push to remove every vestige of traditional America, try to erase our history, attack the Founding Fathers, and even send their Antifa goons or cancel culture Red Guard to silence and physically attack us and we, far from deciding to raise the black flag and wage war without mercy or rules, do nothing other than write dense policy papers or post a few memes. That isn’t working, largely because of the asymmetry in how each side is fighting.
Thankfully, largely because of Trump and his refusal to back down or concede, we’re starting to rethink that. One particularly poignant article in the American Thinker, an article that inspired my question of whether we should raise the black flag, called “Conservatives Need to Start Taking No Prisoners and Claiming Scalps,” got to the root of the issue quite well. Here’s what the author, Selwyn Duke, said:
“One reason conservatives never saw a culture war they couldn’t lose is that they insist on using Queensberry rules, even as the Left fights no-holds-barred. Consider, for example, two scenarios.
When leftists discover someone “committing conservatism” — such as when former Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich was found to have donated $1,000 to California’s Proposition 8 — they accept nothing less than the person’s termination. In fact, they never want him to work again. Ergo “cancel culture.”
When leftists effect something truly outrageous, such as the anti-white “Deep Equity” school curriculum being implemented nationwide, the reaction is different. Conservatives may fight back against it as they did with Deep Equity in Chandler, Arizona, but they’re generally satisfied if the social engineering is abandoned. They don’t go for blood. In fact, so often have I heard prominent conservative figures say in such a situation, “Look, I don’t want anyone fired.”’

Mr. Duke also said:
“With respect to school indoctrination, consider: If you caught a teacher trying to molest your child, would you be satisfied with an apology and continue leaving your kid in his care?
Why should it be any different when a teacher visits upon your child the rape of mind, heart and soul?
The point apparently missed is that in such a situation, the problem is not that the educator tried to effect a given type of toxic indoctrination.
It’s that he’s the kind of person who would effect toxic indoctrination.”
Finally, in an excellent end to the article, Mr. Duke says:
“If my prescription still sounds harsh, know that there’s a difference between being virtuous and being a “nice” guy — and that nice guys finish last. I’d also implore conservatives to stop being conservative, as in being defensive, as in conserving our now leftism-forged status quo.
I’d further say, look around you. Do you not realize that our culture is being undone root and branch? Have you not noticed the statues coming down, the traditions torn up, the names of Founders and other historical heroes being stripped from buildings, the history being rewritten, and the morality being turned on its head? Do you not see that we’re facing our own Year Zero?…
Really, we need to become as “intolerant” as leftists accuse us of being and 10 percent as intolerant they are.”
Now, Mr. Duke’s call to, in effect, raise the black flag when fighting the culture war might sound harsh. It is. It might sound like it would lead to uncomfortable situations and lost friendships/relationships. It will. You might be worried that it would further weaken the ties that bind us together as a nation. I think the left has already done so, but that’s a fair point.
Here’s the thing- the radical left is winning. Their long march through the institutions, namely education and the bureaucracy, is more or less complete. They have a stranglehold on the media. They’re teaching your children to hate rather than revere history and spit on the greatness that is America rather than view it as a magnificent force for good. They are the ones ripping apart America, not us.
Don’t let anyone tread on your rights! Show your love of freedom by ordering and proudly flying one of these FREE Gadsden flags: I Love My Freedom
Were some enemy force, perhaps the Red Chinese, land on our shores and attempt to implement the radical anti-freedom agenda that the leftists are now pursuing, what would you do? You’d fight back until you either won or were riddled with CCP bullets.
As Churchill once said of a similar situation, “If this long island story of ours is to end at last, let it end only when each one of us lies choking in his own blood upon the ground.”
Now, we of course should not resort to violence and start an actual civil war. Such an event would be the worst thing that could happen to our beloved homeland. When it comes to domestic disputes, violence is never the answer and discussion of drenching our glorious homeland in blood should never be tolerated. Not even for a single second.
But in terms of the vigor with which we would carry on such a struggle, why would we not raise the black flag and fight with everything we have. As Mr. Duke suggests, why not fight for radical leftists to be fired and forced from the realm of civil society? Why not “cancel” such people as they would cancel us? In short, why not fight the left as it is fighting us?
The radical left has forced the firing of many a conservative patriot. They have ruined our lives, eliminated our chances for gainful employment, attacked the advertisers that support our entertainment, and foisted their own intolerable beliefs upon us. They are normalizing pedophilia, opening the border, putting men in women’s sports, trying to disarm us, and eliminating our right to free speech. They’re pulling down statues, burning down businesses, and shouting down speakers. If now is not the time to raise the black flag, then when is? If now is not when we should fight, then when is the proper time and place to do so?
Order this hat to show you’re ready to fight for your rights: I Love My Freedom
The quiddity of the left is hatred of liberty. The radical left supports libertinism to some degree or another, but not liberty itself. They transform the labile minds of our youth while insouciant conservatives idly sit by and watch, occasionally protesting without vigor for grit, willing to lodge a complaint but not to press the issue to the degree that would be necessary to win.
However we choose to proceed, whether we raise the black flag now or later, that carefree attitude is no longer appropriate to the situation. Now is the time to vociferously fight back. We can no longer empower the Chamberlains of the GOP to retreat and surrender. Whether we fight back as gentlemen or raise the black flag and wage the culture war without mercy, now is the time to take a stand.
I’d like to end this with a poem. Macauley’s “Out Spake Brave Horatius” is one of the most beautiful poems in the English language and it is also quite relevant to our current predicament:
“Then out spake brave Horatius,
The Captain of the Gate:
To every man upon this earth
Death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better
Than facing fearful odds,
For the ashes of his fathers,
And the temples of his gods”
