Unless you have been living under a rock, you by now have heard and felt the panic of Omicron. The World Health Organization has named a new version of the Covid-19 virus “Omicron” and classified it as a highly transmissible variant of concern, though its actual risks are not yet understood. The new Omicron virus has apparently come from a region on the southern tip of Africa and is spreading around the world.
Many reports are just now coming out about this latest strain of the Coronavirus. You probably already read many summary reports on Omicron but here and here are a few in case you missed it. Some call for panic and others call for calm. Which is it?
The panicked.
The new variant scare campaign originated earlier last week with a Twitter thread from Tom Peacock, a postdoc in his early 30s who is employed at the Imperial College London. He set the gears in motion through his alarmist interpretation of the variant, describing the new strain as having a “really awful Spike mutation profile.” See his tweet below.
The corporate media, world governments, and other institutions have regurgitated Peacock’s pandemic proclamations, setting off a new series of authoritarian demands from the ruling class. Imperial College UK is the home of the infamous “doomsday models” for COVID-19, which promised that millions of people would imminently be wiped off the earth if the Western world did not lockdown in March of 2020 for COVID-19. A faulty academic model from Neil Ferguson is an epidemiologist at Imperial College. When pressed to open-source his models, Ferguson outright refused. He later resigned in disgrace from the UK government scientific advisory board. Yet “Professor Lockdown” somehow remains a very influential figure in driving Britain’s totalitarian pandemic response policies.
Notably, Imperial’s virology and epidemiology departments have received incredible amounts of funding from the Gates Foundation, the world’s most influential driver of global “public health” policy. According to a review of their public records, Gates Inc has delivered close to $300 million dollars to the Imperial College London.
Many government policymakers spring into action. For example, Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency in New York late Friday amid a surge in COVID-19 cases and the looming threat of a new variant found recently in South Africa – Omnicron. The move by Hochul comes as hospitals are again warning of being overrun with COVID patients and as the state’s positivity hit 3.8% on Thursday, the highest since mid-April. In some regions, the rates were even higher: nearly 10% in western New York and almost 9% in the Finger Lakes.
What would a pandemic panic be without Dr. Anthony Fauci? He says in the video below, “We just really need to, as I’ve said so often, prepare for the worst.”
Frank Ulrich Montgomery, chairman of the global physicians’ society of the World Medical Association (WMA), told German reporters that he believes Omicron could become as dangerous as the Ebola virus. Montgomery stated, “the fastest and best thing to do is contact restrictions. We must avoid any form of crowds in the coming weeks. We should therefore close the Christmas markets nationwide.”
Montgomery said it may be necessary to keep “vaccinating the world for years” to come, saying that “only vaccination helps.” “If people are not aware of their social responsibility or if they do not want to take it on, then one has to remind them a little more rigidly. In the case of a general compulsory vaccination – if allowed by the Stiko, from the age of five – all measures could soon be omitted. We would have our old life back,” he said.
Montgomery’s bleak predictions come two weeks before BioNTech, Pfizer is expected to have laboratory tests on Omicron to determine if a new vaccine would be created. If so, it would take scientists 100 days to develop.
Mainstream media, eager for a new story to tell, have all spoken of the Omnicron panic in unison. Here is one example from the Guardian. Mandatory face masks are back in England. The fear factor has returned. After months of assuming the Covid-19 pandemic was all but over, the UK government has imposed new restrictions in an attempt to curb the spread of the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus. Don’t forget to take your jab – or should we say jabs.
The unpanicked.
The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) in a statement urged world leaders not to implement knee-jerk policy decisions in response to the detection of the Omicron variant. South Africa is being punished. Dr. Angelique Coetzee, the person who first brought attention to a new COVID-19 variant, Omicron, says the symptoms are “unusual but mild” in otherwise healthy patients. See her video below.
Contrary to the panic mongering unleashed by western mainstream media, Barry Schoub, chairman of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Vaccines, told Sky News on Sunday that while South Africa, which first identified the new variant, currently has 3,220 people with the coronavirus infection overall and while the variant does appear to be spreading rapidly, there’s been no real uptick in hospitalizations. Goldman Sachs slams the Omicron panic – this mutation (Omicron) is unlikely to be more malicious and hence no reason for portfolio changes. So move along – all is well. Goldman’s conclusion stated:
“While we do not have sufficient information to forecast a global B.1.1.529 wave, a high rate of transmission almost inevitably leads to a variant dominance. Nevertheless, we can have a reasonable degree of confidence that this mutation is unlikely to be more malicious and that the existing vaccines will most likely continue to be effective in preventing hospitalizations and deaths. As such, while we would monitor the situation in Gauteng closely over the next month, we do not think that the new variant is sufficient reason to make major portfolio changes.”

Should we dial the panic control knob to maximum? Who is right? No one really knows at this point whether the Omicron virus is malicious or not, but one thing is for sure, the “political pandemic” will continue.
