Let’s look back at this August, when Jim Acosta was practicing his skill of an oracle with this soul-wrenching monologue:
“Instead of the delta variant, why not call it the DeSantis variant? We could sell beer koozies that say ‘Don’t Florida My Fauci,’ and use the money to help pay for all of the funerals in the days to come.”
Well, Jim is no Nostradamus as his talent for prophetic vision is a tad rusty. His doomsday prediction did not age well: at the end of October, Florida recorded the lowest daily Covid cases per capita.
Last week,
“The Sunshine State reported a daily average of 1,393 cases last week, which is only six per 100,000, and a 2% decrease in the last two weeks.”
In the summer, when Florida was hit with a surge of Delta variant, the media was on the case right away. Hysterical reportage was permeated with hogwash and baloney of “overflowing hospitals,” “dying school children,” and general bull crap from the CDC. The “DeathSantis” hashtag suddenly looked like a promising fundraising tool for the Democrats – for the moment.
Always insightful CNN’s heavyweight David Axelrod wrote this:
“If you were governor, you probably would recognize the threat and think it your duty to work day and night to ensure that every single resident who is eligible gets the vaccinations that can save their lives.
You would think it. But not Ron DeSantis.”
You would think that an honest commentator would point out that back in January, Ron DeSantis implemented the “Seniors First” plan, that led to vaccinating almost 90% of Florida seniors by summer, which probably made the Delta surge a lot less lethal than it could’ve been. But David Axelrod is not an honest commentator – he is a political hack. And that is why back in January, instead of highlighting Covid mitigation in Florida, he was busy denigrating Donald Trump for hours on end – the same “gift that keeps on giving” topic his network went back to the minute Florida Covid cases started subsiding.
Any intellectually honest political commentator would also highlight Governor DeSantis’ monoclonal antibody treatment campaign. But honesty is not a virtue of today’s media – and that is why the Governor was immediately besmirched and slandered.
Monoclonal antibody treatment was proven to be the single most effective treatment and prevention of Covid. The treatment was so effective that the ever-clueless Biden administration seized control of monoclonal antibody supply, loudly demanding that Florida bore their “fair share” of the misery brought to you by the current White House. Undeterred, Governor DeSantis quickly found the workaround, effectively mitigating both Covid and its greatest enabler – the Biden administration. Not only did Governor DeSantis’ approach likely save thousands of lives, but it also saved the state’s economy, making Florida the booming economic hub.
While Ron DeSantis was presiding over the most successful policy for fighting Covid in the country, the media was promoting the maximum-security prison formerly known as the state of California:
“Like other states with a lower than average COVID-19 infection rate, California implemented strict measures early in the pandemic to help slow the virus’s spread. On Mar. 19, 2020, California implemented a temporary statewide stay-at-home order to limit person-to-person contact.”
Turned out that California’s much-touted success in defeating Covid was, as the alleged President would say, “true AT THE TIME.” As of today, California has twice the spread that Florida does. But don’t you think that Covid surge in California is a result of the failed policies of king Newsom – or the success of Florida is due to the competency of Ron DeSantis:
“The virus, we’ve known for some time, comes in waves — waves that ascend, peak and ultimately recede on a remarkably consistent timeline.”
“We’ve known for some time?” Who is “we?”
- The Washington Post was skeptical:
“DeSantis blames Florida’s surge on ‘COVID season.’ That’s misleading, experts say.”
- Politico did not have a clue:
“DeSantis downplays rising Covid-19 numbers.”
- PolitiFact begged to differ:
“Some experts said there appears to be a seasonal component to COVID-19, but not the way DeSantis describes it. They said that data suggests that cases, deaths and other epidemiological variables rise during winter, not during summer.”
In fact, the only “we” that predicted the Florida Covid surge was due to a seasonal pattern was Ron DeSantis, who maintained it from the start, and the Right Wire Report, who did solid research to prove that the Governor was correct. Here is the governor again, predicting in August exactly what is happening right now:
“What we’re going to see is that — you’re already starting to see — but because you don’t have the herd immunity through the vaccinations, you’re going to start to see winter and fall waves in the Northern states.”
Governor DeSantis’s decisions are driven by duty to serve and protect his constituents. The Legacy Media’s are solely political.
While Governor DeSantis continues his data-driven approach to – well, everything – the ever consistent media continues to promote the chief “follower of the science,” Saint Fauci, who exploited and lied about aspects of the Covid pandemic for personal gain while not helping the country at all.
