The Quote by JFK on the 2nd Amendment
“By calling attention to ‘a well regulated militia,’ ‘the security of the nations,’ and the right of each citizen ‘to keep and bear arms,’ our founding father recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy…The 2nd Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason, I believe the 2nd Amendment will always be important.” -JFK on the 2nd Amendment

I think that all Americans need to read and remember this quote by JFK on the 2nd Amendment for two reasons.
The first, and perhaps most obvious, is that it shows how there used to be Democrats in the US that loved America and it’s founding institutions. Nowadays, we’re stuck with a bunch of semi-traitors that hate Western civilization, the founding principles, pretty much all of American history, and anyone that dares defend those things. Dinesh D’Souza describes that hostility well in America: Imagine a World Without Her.
But, most of all, modern Democrats hate the fact that we have natural rights, protected by the Constitution, that are immutable and limit the government’s power severely. If you read Restoring the Lost Constitution, you’ll see the utter disdain Progressives have for the Constitution and the rights it protects, especially the right to keep and bear arms described in this quote by JFK on the 2nd Amendment.
That, I think, is the major difference between Democrats then and now. Back in the day when both parties loved America, this quote by JFK on the 2nd Amendment wouldn’t have seemed out of place coming from a Democrat. Both parties used to love America and what it stands for- freedom.
Now, if any of our friends on the left dared to utter as strong of a defense of the 2nd Amendment as this one they’d be in deep trouble with their commandant, Nancy Pelosi. So, instead, the Republicans (or most of them, at least) support the Constitution and the Democrats vigorously and savagely attack it.
The other reason that this quote by JFK on the 2nd Amendment is important for all Americans to learn is that it superbly captures what the 2nd Amendment is all about.
As George Washington said in his quote on firearm rights, all Americans should be well-provisioned with firearms and ammunition so that we can properly resist tyranny if it were ever to come to America. That’s the purpose of the 2nd Amendment. It’s not to protect your right to go deer hunting. They didn’t care about that. No, it’s meant to give your right to defend yourself from tyrants the shielding from legal limitations that it so desperatly needs in order to be preserved.
Unfortunately, no one remembers that anymore. Too many Americans are complacent and are okay believing the fiction that the Founders were divided over the 2nd Amendment or understood that “common sense” restrictions should be placed on that. All gun control is unconstitutional, even if liberals label it as “common sense” or “desperately needed.”
Limitations on the 2nd Amendment are absurd for the very reason outlined in the above quote by JFK on the 2nd Amendment. That precious amendment forms the bedrock of civil-military relations and is what helps us have a standing army without having a tyrannical government, as the Founding Fathers feared we would.
We’re supposed to have the same weapons the government has so that, if necessary, we can adequately resist a tyrant in the White House. With it, there is a balance between us and the military. Without it, we’re just waiting to end up in the same situation as those in Hong Kong or Syria.
Those privateers I wrote about the other day should have the same opportunities to buy weaponry as the US Navy. Anything less would be a Constitutional travesty and would severely limit national security because it would mean citizens couldn’t defend themselves from foreign aggression.
Liberals, and even some supposed “Republicans” that disagree with this quote by JFK on the 2nd Amendment, might claim that viewpoint is extreme and therefore should not be taken seriously. Before you believe those fools, consider for a second who it is that supports gun control. Is it freedom-loving citizens that want to place limitations on their right to keep and bear arms?
Nope, definitely not. Citizens in Hong Kong, for example, are really wishing they had a right to keep and bear arms enshrined by their Constitution because right now they’re being tyrannized by the police.
The only people who want gun control are tyrants; the people Orwell warned us about and was right about. Those who want power over you and are afraid of what you might do if you can defend yourself. Don’t give those people the power they crave; read and remember this quote by JFK on the 2nd Amendment and defend your right to keep and bear arms. Defend that right. It is sacred. And the fact that people, mainly Democrats that have forgotten this quote by JFK on the 2nd Amendment, want to take your weapons away from you shows why you need an AR-15 and why Americans are buying more guns than ever.
