Homeowner Gets in Shootout with Intruder after Hearing Footsteps and Getting Up and Armed. Guess who won?

At some point, the thugs that break into houses and try to prey on innocent homeowners or, at the very least, steal their things, will learn that doing so is a very bad idea, as Americans are generally armed to the teeth and more than willing to find out just how effective those $1.50 a pop hollow-point bullets really are.

Of course, some homeowners are unarmed (foolish ones, that is), but many aren’t, so any home invasion could end in a chest full of buckshot or head full of lead for the invading criminal. It’s like the lottery, but with way better odds and lead projectiles being the payout.

Such is the payout a burglar in California  just received: having broken into a couple’s house in the dark of night, he found himself not cramming candlesticks into grocery bags but getting lead crammed into his chest after he found himself in a shootout with the homeowner.

Watch the news report on that event here:

According to the ABC 7 report, the homeowners heard footsteps at about 4 am and got up, ready to investigate what was going on.

Fortunately for him, the homeowner grabbed a gun before going to investigate and so was ready to fight off a burglar if necessary.

That’s just what became necessary, with the burglar and homeowner getting in a shootout and the homeowner winning.

When the Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies arrived, they found that the suspect had suffered gunshot wounds to the upper torso and died at the scene.

Fortunately, the 27-year-old homeowner and his wife were uninjured during the shootout, and according to FTLON:

There was apparently a second suspect who ran from the scene of the crime and is still on the loose, as said in the report. The police recovered a handgun that belonged to the first suspect, but they still need help identifying and locating the second suspect.

The report provided information for anyone who may have a lead to help with the investigation.

“Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may dial Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.”

It’s unclear if the homeowner will be charged with anything under the liberal state’s laws.

On one hand, even California has a “castle doctrine” set of laws, which allows a homeowner to use deadly force when defending his abode from a burglar or other home invader, so the homeowner should be free and clear legally.

But, on the other hand, it’s pro-criminal California that the incident took place in, and even more liberal than normal Los Angeles county at that, so it seems possible that the progressives in charge would do something to try to tear down the law-abiding gun owner in the name of “criminal justice reform” or some such nonsense.

Still, at least the homeowner and his wife were uninjured and his shooting skills won the day for them.
