CNN has declared itself to be on the path back to posting only real news rather than the fake news/Brian Stelter-type opinion nonsense that it became known for during the Trump presidency.
Well, in addition to all the typical nonsense that CNN is known for, that time that it was tricked by the internet into broadcasting fake, vulgar tweets on the news ought to be remembered, mostly because it’s just funny.
Watch the broadcast here and see if you catch it:

Did you catch it? If not, here’s what the Daily Beast reported after the fact:
CNN just got Bart Simpsoned.
A Twitter troll, armed with a small collection of fake accounts with ridiculously stupid names, managed to get CNN to fill its screen’s ticker on New Year’s Eve with tweets from “Ben Dover,” “Mike Oxlong” and “Dixie Normus.”
Meanwhile, what may be two other trolls got airtime for messages from “Anita Blackman” and “Deeko Giganto.”
CNN aired the tweets as scrolling text at the bottom of the screen during its live countdown to the end of 2021, which was hosted by journalist Anderson Cooper and TV personality Andy Cohen.
Now that’s funny; whatever genius figured out that the bar would just put up whatever they said with the fake, funny names deserves everyone in the country to buy them a beer. Not only did they kick the new year off right with a hilarious joke, but their joke exposed CNN’s utter lack of standards.
CNN wants to be taken seriously again. No wonder; what used to be the prime news outlet is now little more than a joke, and was such a joke even before the “Dixie Normus” jab thrown its way.
Its path toward good repute will be a hard path made harder by past, obvious missteps, missteps that showed the world its biased nature and that CNN tends to lean to the left, a lean to the left highlighted by a college kid that utterly wrecked Brian Stelter at a University of Chicago event, asking:
You’ve all spoken about Fox News being a purveyor of disinformation. But CNN is right up there with them. They pushed the Russian collusion hoax, they pushed the Jussie Smollett hoax, they smeared [Supreme Court] Justice [Brett] Kavanaugh as a rapist and they also smeared Nick Sandmann as a white supremacist, and, yes, they dismissed the Hunter Biden laptop affair as pure Russian disinformation.
With mainstream corporate journalists becoming little more than apologists and cheerleaders for the regime, is it time to finally declare the canon of journalistic ethics dead or no longer operative? All the mistakes of the mainstream media, in particular, seem to magically all go in one direction. Are we expected to believe that this is all just some sort of random coincidence or is there something else behind it?
Boom. Now that’s a question that might even beat out “Mike Oxlong” in how foolish it made CNN look.
