Former President Trump Just Made a Massive Mistake

I’m a Trump guy through and through. I have been since he rode down that golden escalator and gave a speech that kicked off his momentous campaign and reinvigorated the right, filling it with the fighting spirit it needed to take on the Clintons and resist the detestable inclinations of the radical left.

He’s fought for us through thick and thin, stood up to the Deep State, and suffered mightily for his defense of the America we know and love.

But, despite all that, we need to admit that he made a massive mistake, one that doesn’t bode well if it’s an indication of what’s to come should he decide to run again.

What was that mistake? He backed Dr. Oz in the Pennsylvania senate race, choosing a former leftie over any of the more conservative options. He did so in one of his “Save America” statements, saying:

“The Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has a tremendous opportunity to Save America by electing the brilliant and well-known Dr. Mehmet Oz for the United States Senate. I have known Dr. Oz for many years, as have many others, even if only through his very successful television show. He has lived with us through the screen and has always been popular, respected, and smart.

Dr. Oz is Pro-Life, very strong on Crime, the Border, Election Fraud, our Great Military, and our vets, Tax Cuts, and will always fight for and support our under-siege Second Amendment. He will ensure America will become Energy Independent again.

It would have been a great choice if that were all true and Dr. Oz really were a rock-ribbed conservative, but he isn’t. A tweet by Jack Posobiec on but one of Oz’s many liberal inclinations shows why:

A conservative wouldn’t have done that. No matter what, a real conservative wouldn’t have even considered running such a segment.

Oz, for his part, cheered Trump’s decision in a statement, saying:

President Trump carefully reviewed all of the candidates for U.S. Senate. Everyone, especially David McCormick – a pro-China, Wall Street insider, wanted this endorsement. But President Trump wisely endorsed me because I’m a Conservative who will stand up to Joe Biden and the woke Left. President Trump knows how critical it is to change the kinds of people we send to Washington. I’m ready to fight. I thank him for that, and I am proud to receive his endorsement.

Maybe he’s miraculously gotten more conservative and this Trump pick won’t end badly. But, even if that does happen, it was a bad pick. Trump shouldn’t back anyone with even the slightest RINO tendencies and doing so in this case was a poor decision.

It shows, as The Election Wiz points out, that Trump hasn’t learned a thing from the bad personnel picks of his presidency:

Trump’s endorsement of Dr. Oz, the “Romney of PA,” is deeply troubling not just because Oz is a train wreck on the issues, but also because it signals Trump has learned nothing.

Indeed. Trump is a great conservative and great man, but he has a hard time picking the right lieutenants. If he’s still listening to whoever’s telling him to back RINOs like Dr. Oz, that’s a worrying sign.
