Why You Should Celebrate Thanksgiving Despite Covid
Thanksgiving is coming up soon. All over the nation, Americans are getting ready to thank God (hopefully) for the many blessings they have been giving. Despite being wracked by a pandemic and political divisiveness, not to mention the utter ridiculousness of this election, we still live in the most prosperous nation on Earth. That’s worth celebrating and is why I think Americans of every background and stripe should celebrate Thanksgiving despite Covid.
Of course, not everyone feels the same way. Many of your governors, who view you as a peon and your rights as obstacles to their power rather than gifts to you from God, want to do away with Thanksgiving this year. Far from encouraging you to risk that incredibly high survival rate and celebrate Thanksgiving despite Covid, they’re demanding that you instead continue to quarantine and remain at home. They don’t want you to be thankful and celebrate the many, many blessings you have as an American; they want you to be fearful and even more reliant on the government. Here are some of the ridiculous Thanksgiving regulations coming out of America’s worst states.
California’s Ridiculous Covid Thanksgiving Rules:
- Do not gather indoors with other households
- People at higher risk…are strongly urged not to attend
- Only invite a maximum of two other households
- Incoming travelers from out of state should self-quarantine for 14 days
- Wear a mask
- California also has a month-long stay at home order that began on November 21st.
All of those come from here, California’s official Covid website. Just to emphasize the point, California doesn’t want you to have a Thanksgiving celebration. You can’t gather with your extended family. If you have family from outside the state, they’re supposed to quarantine for two weeks…so they’re supposed to take their two weeks of vacation just to go to Thanksgiving dinner. And Newsom doesn’t want your grandparents to come to Thanksgiving dinner. That’s all ridiculous, not in the least because he just broke California’s Covid rules to have dinner with his lobbyist friends. Don’t listen to Gavin Newsom, celebrate Thanksgiving despite Covid.
New York’s Ridiculous Covid Thanksgiving Rules
- Bill de Blasio urged New Yorkers not to travel and to not have visitors over from out of state.
- New Yorkers are supposed to wear masks, even if outside or with their families
- Indoor gatherings are limited to ten people.
Michigan, New Jersey, Connecticut, and other states all have similar policies to New York. But the politicians do whatever they want. Don’t listen to them, celebrate Thanksgiving despite Covid. They don’t want you to travel, see your family, or celebrate Thanksgiving. But that’s not because they’re concerned about you; they couldn’t care less about your life. They just want to hold on to power and don’t think they’ll be able to do so if they don’t take a “strong” stance on Covid. Don’t let them get away with that; celebrate Thanksgiving despite Covid.
Stand Up to the Covid Tyrants and Celebrate Thanksgiving Despite Covid
Luckily, Americans are clearly not having it and won’t back down once again to tyrannical Covid regulations that have little to no basis in science. For example, police officers in both California and New York have said they will not enforce the ridiculous Covid policies of those states.
In New York, for example, sheriffs in Erie, Fulton, Saratoga and Washington counties said they would not have their deputies enforce any of Cuomo’s ridiculous Thanksgiving Covid rules. The Fulton County Sheriff said “With regard to the Thanksgiving Executive Order, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office will NOT be enforcing it against our County residents… Frankly, I am not sure it could sustain a constitutional challenge in court for several reasons including your house is your castle.” Similarly, the Erie County Sheriff said that he would not have his deputies break up any Thanksgiving dinners, whatever the executive order from Cuomo said. At least those sheriffs get that Americans should go ahead and celebrate Thanksgiving despite Covid.
California is in a similar situation. Police officers in 11 counties have said they will not enforce Newsom’s lockdown order and many police officers have said they’re not going to enforce his ridiculous Thanksgiving policies. That’s another thing we have to be thankful for; at least some cops aren’t willing to enforce tyrannical laws. We need more police officers to be like them and those that established 2nd Amendment sanctuaries.
Conclusion: You’re an American, Act Like It and Do What You Want
We’re in America, not the USSR or Red China. The government can’t tell us what holidays to celebrate or with whom we can do so. That hasn’t changed just because a slightly worse version of the flu is floating around.
A few months ago, I wrote an article that posed the question “would Americans recognize tyranny?” My thesis was “no.” We have lost the spirit of 1776 and are far too willing to go along with what the government says we should do. Prove me wrong. You don’t have to go out and protest, but you should refuse to comply with their Thanksgiving demands. Don’t give in to the diktats of tyrants; instead, go ahead and celebrate Thanksgiving despite Covid.
The government rarely gives up power. It almost never reinstates liberties, once lost. That applies to this situation too. If you give the right to choose who you will associate with and for what purpose up, then you will never get that right back.
Furthermore, the whole idea that sitting down to eat some turkey is dangerous is utterly ridiculous. The left has been encouraging mass protests and riots for months. They cheered as tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of people marched around in support of some vague cause. It seems like the whole “Covid is incredibly dangerous” argument can just be disregarded now; it obviously isn’t anywhere near as dangerous as our elected representatives claim it is.
So, in summary, be an American. Do what you want, the governor’s orders be damned. Go ahead and celebrate Thanksgiving despite Covid; it’s what Americans of any previous generation would have done. The government has no right to tell you how to give thanks.
