Could we soon see Pelosi dragged into court and held accountable for all she and her cronies have done, particularly in regards to the poor treatment of the January 6th prisoners and the overreach of her January 6th Kangaroo Court (subcommittee)?
Well, though it’s never a best practice to place any faith or hope whatsoever in the weaklings that are the GOP’s functionaries, as they tend to back down at the first sign of trouble or the first whiff of a chance for “bipartisanship”, it looks like the GOP is at least pledging to do so. CNN, reporting on that in a surprisingly good article, notes that:
House Republicans, furious that five of their own have been subpoenaed by the January 6 select committee, are discussing their own plans to retaliate if they win back the majority: Issuing subpoenas to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other top Democrats.
Several rank-and-file Republicans, likely committee chairmen and members of the party leadership, told CNN on Friday that the January 6 panel’s subpoenas to House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy and four other Republicans create a new standard they may ultimately choose to replicate in a potential GOP majority next Congress.
At the top of the list: Pelosi, whom Republicans say they plan to target over her communications regarding security matters in the run-up to January 6 and as the riot was unfolding in the Capitol.
“I’m gonna tell you the truth: Yes, I do,” said Rep. Buddy Carter, a Georgia Republican, when asked if he believes Republicans should issue a subpoena to Pelosi. “This is setting the precedent, and we’re just not gonna lie down and let this happen. There are serious questions about her role on January 6 and exactly what she did and what she didn’t do. And we need to get to the bottom of that.”
In other words, “Dark MAGA” time is here and Republicans with a spine, furious about how their own are being treated by the Democrats, leftist crazies who are acting quite irresponsibly for how tenuous their grip on power is, are looking for payback.
Pelosi, responding to CNN about the threats of payback emanating from the GOP, told CNN that “I’m never afraid of precedent. We’re seeking the truth, and we’re not going to be cowards about it.”
She spoke similarly about the issue when talking to ABC about the recent subpoenas, saying:
“People say to me, ‘Well, this is unprecedented.’ Yeah, well it’s unprecedented for the president of the United States to incite an insurrection on the Capitol, on the Congress, on the Constitution, in that manner. And we must seek the truth. And I’m proud of the work of the committee.”
If only the GOP had such spines of steel and a refusal to back down! But perhaps she’s just mad some dude in a beanie put his feet on her desk during January 6th.
Regardless, things are heating up and, thanks to the Democrat overstep in subpoenaing GOP leaders, including Kevin McCarthy, the GOP might slap back with all due force and vigor once it has the power to do so.
The MAGA wing is beating the “always back down” RINO wing in primaries, men like McCarthy are being steeled by Democrat attacks on them, and the base is whipped into a fury over what’s going on.
So, if all the stars align, maybe the GOP will actually subpoena Pelosi and try to get some payback for what she and the January 6th Kangaroo Court has been up to. Precedent is precedent, after all, and the cannon of precedent can always be spun around and fired on its former masters.
