While leftists protest outside Justice Kavanaugh’s home in a clear attempt at intimidation and an attempted assassin is locked up for trying to kill that justice, the left is continuing its campaign to smear former President Trump by insisting that he precipitated an “insurrection” by…giving a speech in DC and encouraging his supporters to peacefully protest at the Capitol.
Well, as if the claims the crazies are making weren’t alone discredited by the fact that its the Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, AOC, and Liz Cheney types that are pushing them, all of those characters being the most inveterate of the Trump-haters in the legislature and enemies of the MAGA movement, or by the very fact that Trump encouraged everyone to be peaceful in his speech, yet more evidence has appeared that discredits their allegations.
That would be a report that the Trump Pentagon offered to send National Guard troops to the Capitol four days before the protest in case things got out of hand. If Trump were attempting an insurrection and takeover of the Capitol, why send troops to fight off those attempting to launch such an insurrection?
In any case, according to the report, it was a series of rejections from Democrats involved and the obviously incompetent Capitol police that stopped the National Guard troops from being deployed to the Capitol to protect it, not any action by Trump.
Yikes Today, reporting on the report and timeline of what actually happened on that day and in the days leading up to it, notes that:
The official timeline of the January 6th events assembled by the United States Capitol Police (USCP) shows that the Trump Defense Department reached out to the USCP deputy chief, Sean Gallagher, on Jan. 2, 2021, offering additional troops for safeguarding the Capitol premises. Gallagher, after consulting with then USCP chief Steve Sund rejected DOD’s offer.
“Carol Corbin (DOD) texts USCP Deputy Chief Sean Gallagher, Protective Service Bureau, to determine whether USCP is considering a request for National Guard soldiers for January 6, 2021 event,” official records read from the entry list for Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021.
The follow-up timeline to this entry for Jan. 3, 2021, reveals, “Gallagher replies to DOD via text that a request for National Guard support not forthcoming at this time after consultation with COP Sund.”
And Gallagher rejected the offer for National Guard assistance and reinforcements just hours before the Capitol Police issued a new security assessment saying:
“Due to the tense political environment following the 2020 election, the threat of disruptive actions or violence cannot be ruled out. Supporters of the current president see January 6, 2021 as the last opportunity to overturn the results of the presidential election. This sense of desperation and disappointment may lead to more of an incentive to become violent.”
After that assessment about what might happen was released and circulated to the relevant parties, Sund started looking into the National Guard deployment again, with the timeline recording that:
“COP Sund asks Senate Sergeant at Arms (SSAA) Michael Stenger and House Sergeant at Arms (HSAA) Paul Irving for authority to have National Guard to assist with security for the January 6, 2021 event based on briefing with law enforcement partner and revised intelligence Assessment. COP Sund’s request is denied. SSAA and HSAA tell COP Sund to contact General Walker at DC National Guard to discuss the guard’s ability to support a request if needed.”
So Trump’s Pentagon did offer to send the National Guard in to help defend the Capitol and establish a presence that would hopefully deter any violence, yet that was rejected and instead the incompetent Capitol Police dealt with the issue.
That’s much what Trump and his allies said after the event, explaining that they had in fact offered to send in the National Guard, yet the Democrats and their MSM allies mocked him for it.
