America-Hating WNBA Star Brittney Griner Just Saw Her Russian Nightmare Go From Bad To Worse

Brittney Griner had been one of the premier players in the WNBA. She is undeniably a blessed athlete, standing at 6’9” tall with remarkable coordination and agility for such a large athlete.

She’s an Olympic gold medalist, a league champion, and has received scores of individual awards honoring her athletic achievements.

And along with those physical blessings have come financial rewards as well, with Griner reportedly worth in excess of $3 million.

One might assume that someone like Brittney Griner would have been grateful for her gifts. For her natural size and abilities.

For her good fortune in being able to stay healthy despite a rigorous athletic schedule. And considering that Griner is both gay and a racial minority, we certainly might expect Griner to have been thankful for being an American and living in a country that provides unequaled opportunity and tolerance.

But that wasn’t the case.

Brittney Griner “has been out front about social justice causes her entire career,” according to AZ Central.  She has been extremely vocal in denouncing imaginary ‘systemic racism’ in our country.

And she has adamantly refused to even enter arenas for the playing of our National Anthem, stating:

“I’m going to protest regardless. I’m not going to be out there for the national anthem. If the league continues to want to play it, that’s fine. It will be all season long, I’ll not be out there. I feel like more are going to probably do the same thing. I can only speak for myself.”

We can only imagine whether Griner has changed her tune about America.

In February, Griner was arrested in Russia for the crime of carrying vape cartridges with cannabis oil in them, an action which in America, depending on which state you’re in, might not even be against the law, and it certainly wouldn’t put you in prison.

But that’s exactly where Griner has been the past three months, in a Russian prison. And yesterday, Ms. Griner had her imprisonment extended by at least another month.

Appearing in a Russian courtroom wearing an orange sweatshirt, handcuffed, and with a hood pulled over her head, Griner’s “pre-trial extension was extended for one month.”

Additionally, if convicted, Griner could be facing as much as ten years in prison.

The Biden Administration has denounced Griner’s detainment. Many on the left have come to her defense and demanded her release. But those demands have fallen on deaf ears because Griner isn’t in America, the country she loves to disrespect. She’s in Russia, which isn’t as understanding and open-minded to substances such as cannabis.

Russia never got the memo that they should go soft on substance abuse and recreational marijuana. And Russia isn’t particularly concerned about criminals’ rights.

In a way, Griner might consider herself lucky. If she had been caught in Turkey, she’d be looking at a minimum of two years, but perhaps a lot more.

If she had been caught in Singapore she would have received ten years in prison, a hefty fine, and a caning: which is where a criminal is beaten with “a rattan cane, no more than 1.27 cm (0.5 inches) in diameter and about 1.2 m (3.9 feet) in length.” And if she’d been caught in The Philippines, Griner could have been sentenced to life in prison.

Then again, if Griner had been caught with those vape cartridges here in the United States, she likely would have received nothing more than a slap on the wrist, if anything. It will be interesting to see if Brittney Griner has a different opinion of America if and when she ever gets back here.

I’ll say, what an excellent way for her to LEARN the difference between living in a FREE country and vice versa. She should NOT be very disturbed that she is being detained in foreign, or should we say, a COMMUNIST country, when she believes America is such a bad, horrible place. I sincerely hope she enjoys her stay and appreciates the Russian’s “hospitality!” I could not have dreamed of a better lesson

  1. Prying that she has learned her lesson, and will return home a humbler, more sensible person. Praying for her because by herself she will not change, but with God’s gentle persuasion, she might surrender her heart to Him and use her talents to bring praise to God rather than to wokeness and Marxism.

    1. People like her should not live in a country they hate and that gave them opportunity to become wealthy and freedom to pick and choose. And if she is released she will still hate this country. She is just a sad person. I hate to see anyone held in captivating. I do make exceptions.

  3. It is hard to be sympatric for an athlete that shuns America with her disrespect of the country that made her who she is. I feel for her being imprisoned but she should have know the rules and laws in Russia. Her thinking she is above their laws is ignorant and with the poor relationship between Putin and Biden, she could be there a long time. I wonder if she has changed her view of America over that of Russia where she was to make a buck!

  4. She thinks she’s better than others – for once her money and celebrity didn’t buy her way out. Russia will send her back – who would want to keep her?

  5. Well, she got nabbed in Russia, so the fact that had it been in the US she likely would have gotten a slap on the wrist is irrelevant. She got caught in a foreign country that has strict drug laws, let her do the time.

  6. See when you live in America you don’t think about all the privileges that you have and then when you leave and get in trouble you want America to come back and get you Think about all the blessings that you have before you leave America

  7. Do you suppose that we could get Whoopi and Joy to go over to Russia to plead her case, and if not sucessful Russia could just keep all 3 of them I’ll wait for an answer!!!

  8. Not a fan of citizens who use their bully pulpit to demonstrate their hatred of America for whatever their reasoning. That said, this is the same kind of tactic that the Soviet STASI was famous for when confronting foreign nations that opposed Soviet actions. They would use foreign nationals as political pawns to try to influence a nations actions on the world stage. Putin is ex-KGB and so this action including the charges are as likely BOGUS as they usually were Under the Soviets. I don’t care about her politics. She’s an American citizen being held as a political prisoner after being invited to play basketball in Russia. That seems like entrapment and I want her released immediately.
