The 8 Republicans That Voted For Gun Control

8 Republicans Betrayed Their Voters and Voted for Gun Control

Part of Joe Biden’s push for more gun control was a recent bill that passed the house (but is not expected to pass the Senate) called The Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021. While Republicans all run on being against gun control, 8 Republicans voted for it. Their names are:

  1. Rep. Vern Buchanan (Fla.)
  2. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (Pa.)
  3. Rep. Andrew Garbarino (N.Y.)
  4. Rep. Carlos Gimenez (Fla.)
  5. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (Ill.)
  6. Rep. Maria Salazar (Fla.)
  7. Rep. Chris Smith (N.J.)
  8. Rep. Fred Upton (Mich.)

Those 8 Republicans betrayed their constituents and voted for a bill that would give the government the power to disarm you and limit your right to keep and bear arms, a right that was meant to be sacrosanct and inviolable, hence why the “shall not be infringed” part is in the 2nd Amendment.

Here is what the Epoch Times reports that the “Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021” would do:

“[It] would implement new background check requirements for firearm transfers between private parties…

The House Judiciary Committee’s senior Republican, Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, wrote on Twitter that House Democrats were “making it harder for law-abiding citizens to buy a gun.”

The National Rifle Association (NRA), the largest gun rights group, said the bill would “criminalize the private transfer of firearms,” eroding Americans’ Second Amendment rights.”

Another Epoch Times article gave more details on what the gun control bill that 8 Republicans voted for would do and how it would restrain our firearm rights:

“According to a summary of the legislation, it will “utilize the current background checks process in the United States to ensure individuals prohibited from gun possession are not able to obtain firearms.” Currently, any firearm purchased at a retail store or online has to go through a background check and has to involve a licensed firearms dealer with a federal firearms license, known as an FFL. Specifically, H.R. 8 would also require background checks for private sales...

The National Rifle Association, in a 2019 analysis, said that if passed, the bill would require that “loans, gifts, and sales of firearms be processed by a gun store. The same fees, paperwork, and permanent record-keeping apply as to buying a new gun from the store.”

“If you loan a gun to a friend without going to the gun store, the penalty is the same as for knowingly selling a gun to a convicted violent felon. Likewise, when the friend returns the gun, another trip to the gun store is necessary, upon pain of felony.”

The bill was so bad that, as Just the News reports, even one Democrat voted against it!

Now, it might seem unfair to lambast these 8 Republicans for voting for the Democrat-occupied House’s most recent gun control bill. Background checks are a good thing, right?

Well, perhaps they are in isolation. Making sure criminals can’t get guns should be a priority. But why not just have a database of those people that gun sellers can tap into, rather than going through the convoluted and tedious ATF background check process that currently exists? That ATF system has all the hallmarks of being a front for creating a national gun registry, which would be the first step on a path to gun confiscation.

Additionally, the “Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021” that these 8 Republicans voted for would force you to do a background check on your child if you wanted to give them a gun so they could go hunting with you, to call up the ATF before getting your wife a pistol she could defend herself with, to fill out paperwork if selling a firearm to a friend.

How is that not tyranny? We’re supposed to be able to keep and bear arms and defend ourselves from both the government and violent crime. The bill these 8 Republicans voted for would limit that right to an unacceptable degree and force citizens to go through a byzantine, time-consuming process every time they want to help out a friend or family member.

Finally, what the vote of these 8 Republicans on the HR 8 gun control bill is the danger of allowing RINOs to infiltrate the party. They’re the Chamberlains of the party and are selling us down the river in the hope of somehow, someday, earning some “goodwill” with the crazed, anti-American lunatics on the left.

They’re wrong. Every single one of those 8 Republicans that voted for gun control is a traitor that needs to be primaried. No goodwill can be earned with the lunatics. The lunatics on the left have to be fought and defeated. Not acceded to. We can’t give in to their tyrannical demands, especially about a right so important as the right to keep and bear arms.
