Biden Sleeps as 16 American Missionaries are Held Captive in Haiti

Right now, there are 17 Christian missionaries captive in Haiti, held there by gangsters that are demanding $17 million in ransom and threatening to kill the missionaries if the ransom is not paid. Almost all of the missionaries are American citizens. Joe Biden has done next to nothing to help them. As the Christian Post reports:

The group of missionaries kidnapped Oct. 16, while they were working with Christian Aid Ministries includes six men, six women and five children, of which 16 are Americans and one is Canadian. They range in age from an 8-month-old baby to a 48 year old.

The only help Biden has sent to Haiti, that article reports, is a team of three FBI agents. Those agents have, so far at least, been unable to deal with the situation. As the Christian Daily reported on November 10th, dozens of days have passed and none of them have been released

The 17 missionaries…were kidnapped on October 16 by a notorious gang named 400 Mawozo, who are known to be targeting those engaged in religious operations. The missionaries are members of the Christian Aid Ministries and were kidnapped after coming from an orphanage. There are five children among those kidnapped, five are men and seven are women.

Christian Aid Ministries recently said that the situation in Haiti has become “intense” and there was no form of communication with the missionaries. Nonetheless, the organization is hopeful that God is taking care of the hostages as He does with their families.

“It is now the 24th day of this crisis, and our workers and loved ones are still being held hostage in Haiti. We, along with government authorities, continue to work hard to bring them home safely. This is our heartfelt desire, but we want to surrender to God’s plan and timing,” Christian Aid Ministries said in a November 8 statement.

Haitians, however, are furious about the hostage situation and are, unlike Biden, protesting the gangsters and demanding that they release the missionaries, again according to the Christian Post:

Since the kidnapping of the missionaries, Haitians have taken to the streets to demand their release. Schools and most businesses were closed for several days in Port-au-Prince last week, according to The Haitian Times, following a call for a general strike to protest kidnappings and widespread insecurity, which followed the assassination of the country’s late President Jovenel Moïse in July. A civil society group in that country reports that 600 kidnappings were recorded from January to September 2021, compared with 231 over the same period last year.

Despite that outcry of support for the missionaries and the many prayers on their behalf, the thugs holding them aren’t backing down. In a video released to the public at the end of October, 400 Mawozo gang leader Joseph said “I swear by thunder that if I don’t get what I’m asking for, I will put a bullet in the heads of these Americans. You guys make me cry. I cry water. But I’m going to make you guys cry blood.

Time may be running out for these refugees, and Team Biden, despite its assurances that it cares, is doing little to rectify the situation and free the captive missionaries. So far, all it seems to be doing is “communicating” with the Haitian National Police. If that’s all that’s happening, if all Team Biden has done is send a few FBI apparatchiks to “communicate” with a corrupt police force, then this won’t end well. We can only hope more gangsters around the world won’t take advantage of Biden’s weakness by taking Americans hostage.
